Maidstone Borough Council (MBC), is delighted to announce that its home website maidstone.gov.uk has jumped up 137 places in the latest league table of council websites for accessibility.

The ‘Silktide Index, in association with SOCTIM’ is a public list of websites, graded for accessibility compliance. The MBC website currently sits 1st in their league table.

The Transformation and Digital Services team at the Council has been working hard to meet new accessibility standards required for all public sector websites by September 2020.

Gary Hunter, MBC Transformation and Digital Services Manager said:

“To help us meet the new accessibility standards we had the Silktide monitoring tool set up on 6 April this year and joined the league table in 253rd place. This highlighted certain accessibility issues, which the team has been working through during the last couple of months.

“Maidstone Borough Council is really pleased that our hard word has paid off and that when ‘Silktide’ published their latest accessibility league table we have managed to reach 1st place, becoming the first public sector website to receive a perfect rating of 100%.”
