Maidstone to come together for Remembrance Sunday
Maidstone will come together on Sunday 8 November 2026 to remember those who have lost their lives or been affected by conflict at the town’s annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service.
Download the Order of Service here. Additional copies will be available in Jubilee Square on the morning of the event.
Residents are invited to join military and civilian groups for the commemorations, which will include a parade through the town centre, a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial in The Broadway, a two-minute silence at 11am and the laying of wreaths.
Councillor David Naghi, Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Safety: “Remembrance Sunday gives us an opportunity to come together as a community and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have given their lives, and continue to serve.
“It is an important tradition for Maidstone, and I hope as many people as possible will join us to remember and pay their respects.”
The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Brian Clark, will be joined by Lt Col Sean Parr RE, Commanding Officer of The 36 Engineer Regiment & The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers, to take the salute from the parade.
The parade will set off at 10.30am from the junction of Week Street and the High Street before making its way to the War Memorial. The Service of Remembrance will begin at 10.50am, followed by the laying of wreaths.
At around 11.15am, the parade will return to the High Street, where the Mayor and Commanding Officer will take the salute, before dispersing via Week Street.
Travel information
To allow the parade and service to take place safely, temporary road closures will be needed along the route between 9.45am and 12.30pm. Rolling closures will be used where possible and roads will reopen once the procession has passed.
The Broadway, London Road, Rocky Hill, Tonbridge Road and St Peter’s Street will be among the areas most affected, with closures around the Memorial likely to remain in place between at least 10.30am and 11.30am.
People travelling through the town centre that morning are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey.
Maidstone Borough Council thanks residents, businesses and visitors for their patience while the town comes together to mark this important occasion.
