As the school summer holidays begin the fabulous new Mote Park Outdoor Adventure has been officially opened on Thursday 25 July.

Marion Ring, The Mayor of Maidstone and The Leader of Maidstone Borough Council, Martin Cox cut a ribbon to mark the occasion then tried out the fantastic new activities as part of the official launch.

Joining the fun were a group of children aged 5 to 12 years old from Maidstone Leisure Centre’s summer activity holiday club.

The brand-new Mote Park Outdoor Adventure is set within the magnificent 450-acre Mote Park.

The group tried out the new Sky Trail, Climbing Wall, Segways and Mini Dino Golf.

The 32ft high Sky Trail has 2-tier rope walkways, narrow beams, walk the plank and other fun obstacles, a safe way to get the adrenaline pumping and nerves jangling. There are high ropes at 16ft and 32ft making it great for all ages.

They zoomed around on the purpose-built Segway track, after being shown how to gently lean forward to head off around the instructor-led track.

To test strength, stamina and co-ordination they had a go on the 32ft Climbing Wall. A great way to try out climbing for the first time as it has levels for all abilities.

Not forgetting the dinosaur themed nine-hole Mini Dino Golf course which is good fun for everyone. The golf course even has dinosaur facts, including Iggy the dinosaur whose fossils were found in the Borough.

Martin Cox Leader of Maidstone Borough Council said:

We are delighted to have partnered with Serco in providing these brilliant outdoor adventures in our glorious Mote Park. Launched just in time for the school summer holidays.

“They really are great fun, the high ropes and climbing wall are a real test of nerves, or you can whizz around on the Segways and have a lot of fun on the mini golf course, which is open for all ages and abilities.

“Mote Park really is a wonderful place, it has so much to offer. This new Outdoor Adventure area has added even more great activities to this beautiful setting."

Carla Still, Children’s Activities Supervisor at Maidstone Leisure Centre added:

The Mote Park Outdoor Adventure is a great opportunity to widen our holiday activities. The children are so excited to be able to take part and make the most of these extra special outside activities.”

Bookings are recommended for those planning to visit over the summer and the facility can also accommodate small, medium and large groups for schools, groups and parties. For prices and more information check out the website moteparkadventure.com.
