A consultation opens today, 14 August and will run until 28 September 2020, for a Neighbourhood Development Plan in Boughton Monchelsea which the Parish Council has prepared.

The plan sets out a sustainable vision and a series of policies for the neighbourhood area that the community is proposing to be used in the determination of planning applications and everyone with an interest in the area is being encouraged to have their say.

Rob Jarman, Head of Planning at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“Neighbourhood Plans were introduced to encourage communities to become more involved in shaping their local area at the neighbourhood level. They provide a tier of planning to support the more strategic borough wide Local Plan. We really do encourage anyone with an interest in Boughton Monchelsea to take part in this consultation.”

Boughton Monchelsea Parish Council has been preparing and consulting on its neighbourhood plan over several years, this has now reached its final consultation stage. Following consultation, the plan will be the subject of independent examination and, if successful, a local referendum will be held where local people can vote on whether to accept or reject the plan.
