News Go Green Go Wild asks for help to Create Wildlife Gallery
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC), is asking residents that have spotted wildlife returning to the area they live in, to share their experiences and help create an online gallery.
With reports of people spotting increased wildlife activity, the MBC Go Green Go Wild Scheme (GGGW), is looking for people to send in their photographs of what they have seen in their own gardens, on walks in the countryside, open spaces and parks across the borough of Maidstone.
Nicola Toulson, MBC Community Partnership Officer said:
“There have been reports nationwide of people spotting increased wildlife activity of birds and animals which have been venturing back to areas during lockdown which have previously been dominated by traffic and people.“Go Green Go Wild would really like to hear from everyone who has spotted increased wildlife in their area. It may have been whilst they were outon walks or from spending more time in their own gardens, public areas or parks during lockdown. We really want to hear from as many people as possible telling us about what they have seen or achieved in their gardens over the summer or how they’re preparing for autumn.”
The pictures received will help create an online gallery and will be displayed on the Go Green Go Wild website and MBC social media channels.
GGGW is a project which was created by the Maidstone Borough Council Parks and Open Spaces team to encourage people to look after the nature on their doorstep. It was introduced to help improve biodiversity, create wildlife corridors, encourage native species and provide habitats, so that wildlife can thrive throughout Maidstone.
