To ease the situation for local residents, a concession has been introduced by the Council who has allowed resident parking permit holders to park for free in off-street car parks (with exception to Mote Park and Cobtree Manor Park), to ease street demand and will take place with immediate effect.
Drivers should clearly display a valid residents parking permit they will then be able to use town centre off-street car parks until the end of Maidstone Tier 4 restrictions.
Jeff Kitson, Parking Services Manager at Maidstone Borough Council said:
“Since the introduction of Tier 4 restrictions have been implemented across Maidstone this week, we know that more people are having to stay at home and this has seen an increase in the number of vehicles being parked in residential areas.“In order to help, MBC has introduced a concession for people with valid resident parking permits. This will allow them to use off-street car parks as an overflow and will remain in place whilst Maidstone is under Tier 4 restrictions.
“Yellow lines restrictions remain vital, as they are in place to protect junctions and ensure highway safety. They will remain active as it is important to ensure the free flow of traffic, particularly for emergency services and refuse collections. Resident parking bay enforcement also remains important due to increased demand from resident parking permit holders within each zone.”
