MBC Local Plan Public Consultation still open for responses image

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) has said it will accept responses to the Local Plan Review Preferred Approaches Public Consultation until the close of play on Friday 8 January 2021.

The public consultation was due to close on 22 December, but due to the potential impacts of Covid-19 for individuals and organisations to respond, the Council has now decided that it will consider responses/submissions received up to and including 8 January.  The consultation offers everyone the chance to voice their opinions on the Local Plan Review (LPR) which will help determine where new housing, employment, commercial and other development will be located.

The LPR consultation document includes preferred approaches towards accommodating future growth in housing, employment, retail, and the preferred locations where these would provide the widest benefits together with the infrastructure necessary to secure them. The consultation document also has important policy areas, including protection of key environmental assets, climate change and funding of key infrastructure.

The public and other stakeholders including parish councils, community groups, residents, businesses and developers can voice their opinion and the Council will review and consider any appropriate alterations to the preferred approaches in light of the feedback received.

Anyone who would like to have their say and take part in the Maidstone Local Plan Review Consultation should visit the MBC website page: https://localplan.maidstone.gov.uk/home/local-plan-review
