Maidstone Borough Council in conjunction with Maidstone Leisure Trust is offering one free hire of Mote Hall at Maidstone Leisure Centre to four community groups or charities in the borough during 2020/2021.

Local Community Groups and charities who have an event coming up between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021 are being invited to submit an application to Maidstone Borough Council by midnight Saturday 29 February 2020.

Any groups who successfully complete the application process and fulfil the necessary criteria will be considered.

Mote Hall is the main sports hall inside the Leisure Centre and seats up to 1,200 people or up to 1,000 standing with a stage and can cost up to £2,100 to hire.

The free let only covers the cost of hire for Mote Hall; additional costs for staffing, set up and down, equipment, lighting, sound and other costs will still be chargeable.

Councillor Paul Harper, Chair of the Economic Regeneration and Leisure Committee at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“We will be considering all applications against the criteria and the successful applicants will be notified week beginning 9 March. I would encourage any groups that meet the necessary criteria to apply.”

Priority will be given to those groups who fall into any of the categories below:

  • Sporting or cultural events
  • Events which are unlikely to go ahead without the free hire
  • Not-for-profit events
  • Events which support young people and other target groups
  • Organisations which have not previously been granted a free hire

Full details about how to submit your application can be found on the Council’s website at Maidstone.gov.uk/motehallfreehire
