Maidstone Museum in St Faith’s Street will re-open its doors to the public on Tuesday 14 July.

The team are looking forward to welcoming people back to the museum, although visitors will see some changes.

Social distancing means that a one-way route will be in operation and visitors will be asked to keep a safe space between them and other visitors. Visitors will be encouraged to book their free visit in advance through the museum website: https://museum.maidstone.gov.uk

Sadly some regular activities won’t be available and activities like dressing up have had to be taken away temporarily. The Ancient Lives gallery will remain closed as the museum cannot put safe distancing measures in place in the narrow space.

The museum team are busy cleaning, marking out routes, putting up signage and training staff to make sure the new measures work seamlessly for visitors.

Museum Director, Victoria Barlow, said

“We can’t wait to open and see all our visitors again but we have to be careful to make sure it is safe for those visitors and for our team. We’re doing all we can to make a visit as easy and fun as we can but it won’t be like it used to be for a while. We ask people to bear with us and we will be carefully monitoring the situation and making changes as we are able.”
