News Construction sites to start earlier and finish later

Local developers have contacted Maidstone Borough Council with the view to enabling building sites to get back up and running while adhering to the advice on social distancing.

The most practical solution is a temporary extension of their on-site hours to allow workers to stagger their arrival and departure times by starting work earlier and finishing later.

This interim arrangement will not mean that noisy work can be performed outside of normal hours from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays but does enable workers to put on and remove safety attire either side of those times in a managed way.

John Littlemore Head of Service at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“We are keen to support local businesses to get the economy back up and running again, whilst continuing to observe the health advice on safe working and protecting residents from unreasonable levels of disturbance.”
