The plan sets out a sustainable vision and a series of policies for the neighbourhood area that the community is proposing to be used in the determination of planning applications.
Rob Jarman, Head of Planning at Maidstone Borough Council said: “Neighbourhood Plans provide a tier of planning to support the more strategic borough wide Local Plan and were introduced to encourage communities to become more involved in shaping their local area at the neighbourhood level. We really do encourage anyone with an interest in Otham to take part in this consultation.”
Otham Parish Council has been preparing and consulting on its neighbourhood plan over several years, this has now reached its final consultation stage. Following consultation, the plan will be the subject of independent examination and, if successful, a local referendum will be held where local people can vote on whether to accept or reject the plan.
