Maidstone Borough Council is currently consulting on a new Street Trading Policy and is asking for comments on this.

The Council wants to encourage a vibrant street scene and recognises the valuable contribution street trading can make to the local culture and economy, as well as the services street traders provide to residents and visitors.

Cllr Derek Mortimer Chair of the Communities, Housing and Environment Committee at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“We are asking for views on our draft policy, which was written to provide clear advice and information to everyone involved in the consent process. It sets out our expectations of street traders in the area, provides a clear understanding of what we'll consider when administering applications and how we'd deal with and enforce any problems.

“It's also designed to support our licensing officers in their day to day role, ensuring our aims are met and that good standards are maintained."

The survey closes on 7 April 2021, takes around eight minutes to complete and is available on the Maidstone Borough Council website here:
