The consultation entitled ‘Supporting Housing Delivery and Public Services Delivery,’ was published by government and contains proposed measures to support housing deliver, economic recovery and public service infrastructure with the potential extension to development rights which could increase the amount of property that could be converted to residential use without planning permission.
During the MBC Committee meeting it was suggested that the consultation should be highlighted to the business community of Maidstone to make them aware of it taking place and give them the opportunity to respond prior to the consultation closing on 28 January.
The government consultation seeks views on a proposed new permitted development right for a change of use from the commercial, business and service use to residential properties to increase the supply of new homes. Secondly, it includes measures to support public infrastructure through changes to permitted development rights and a rationalised process and, lastly, simplifying and consolidating existing permitted development rights subsequent to changes in the Use Classes Order.
