Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is looking to establish a ‘Cultural Forum’ for the borough and is inviting anyone interested in getting involved in the arts to come along to an initial meeting on Friday 23 July.

Cllr Martin Round, Chair of the Economic, Regeneration and Leisure Committee at MBC said:

“This is a great opportunity to be part of the arts and culture community in the borough. I would encourage anyone interested in shaping the future of how this valuable sector operates in the future to come along and be part of this new forum. We welcome anyone with an interest in the arts and culture.”

The aim of the forum is to:

  • provide opportunities for people interested in culture and creativity to share ideas, get together and collaborate; and to discuss common issues and problems
  • provide opportunities to link with other sectors such as education, health and local business
  • explore new ways to support and re-energise the arts and cultural sector in the borough
  • identify key priorities to help make Maidstone a vibrant multi-cultural hub
  • help ensure the long-term sustainability of the arts and culture sector in Maidstone

The meeting is open to any individuals, community groups, businesses and charitable organisations with an interest in the cultural and creative industries as well as those involved in tourism, health and education.

Please email annmarielangley@maidstone.gov.uk by 12 noon on Friday 16 July to register for the event, which is being held at Lockmeadow Market Hall from 1pm on 23 July.
