As lives return to some sort of normality, Maidstone Museum is delighted to reopen and welcome people back again.

The museum has already welcomed many families to the new exhibition ‘Stegosaurus Uncovered’ in its first week of opening. With a collection of over 600,000 objects and specimens, the museum is one of the finest in the South East but is still free to enter.

Visitors will see some changes as social distancing means that a one-way route will be in operation and people will need to keep a safe space between other visitors.

Museum Director, Victoria Barlow, is thrilled to be able to open the doors once again, she said:

“The Museum is a free public space for everyone to enjoy and we look forward to seeing many of you.

“Everyone will need to wear a face mask unless they are exempt and use hand sanitiser, there is also a one way system in place while we still need to adhere to government guidelines.”

Sadly some regular activities won’t be available and activities like dressing up have had to be taken away temporarily.

The Museum has slightly altered its opening times to the following:

Most of the year the Museum will open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.30pm)

In high season which is from July 26 to August 28 and school holidays (excluding Bank Holidays) it will open from Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.30pm)

The museum will close from 18 December until mid-February. For more information please visit:  https://museum.maidstone.gov.uk
