Dogs (and their owners) can enjoy an early Christmas treat at the Festive Dog Fete being held at Maidstone’s Lockmeadow market hall on Saturday 20 November.

The event will include its very own Santa Paws (aka Santa for dog owners) who will pose with pups for owners to take their own photos for a donation to charity.

Following on from the successful dog fete held at Lockmeadow in the summer, Cllr Martin Round, Chair of the MBC Economic, Regeneration and Leisure Committee said:

“The Lockmeadow team trialled a dog fete in July and were delighted with how successful it was. With the boom in dog ownership during lockdown, it was aimed at helping new pet owners and attracted a lot of different customers to the market hall.  It was a great success and I’m sure this Christmas event will see another host of dogs and their owners turn up for some fun and shopping.”

The Festive Dog Fete will tap into the season for Christmas shopping with the addition of Santa Paws for some festive fun. Dogs can sit next to Santa and have their photo taken ensuring they make the family Christmas album!

The Lockmeadow event will also feature a variety of stalls selling doggy treats, clothing, toys, grooming and more. There will also competitions, a dog training company - Bella Amica to providing owners the best training tips along with demonstrations hot chocolate, waffles and hotdogs.

An added bonus is the Love Food @ Lockmeadow, the new food hall which is dog friendly, so visitors to the event can enjoy fresh locally sourced food and make a day of it.

The dog fete opens at 10am-3pm (FREE entry) and will feature the following competitions:

  • Dogs’ got no talent competition
  • Dogs’ look like their owners’ competition
  • Christmas fancy dress competition
