News MBC to give businesses a boost

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is asking businesses affected by Covid-19 to come forward to check what help, advice and potential financial support is available to them as part of its new scheme, Maidstone Business Boost (MBB).

By offering diagnostic meetings to understand individual businesses’ needs, MBB aims to guide applicants through the wide range of free resources on offer, and help them identify which they qualify for, including training, marketing, and recruitment.

In addition to the support for businesses significantly impacted by Covid, grants of up to £10,000 are available to businesses taking on a lease for ground floor premises in a commercial centre due to diversification or growth.

Cllr Martin Round, Chair of the Economic, Regeneration and Leisure Committee at MBC said:

“There is such a wealth of help and advice available but we recognise businesses might find it difficult to understand the full range and diversity of what can be offered and then identify with what they may qualify for. Maidstone Business Boost is designed to make it as easy as possible for them to get what they deserve and are rightly entitled to.

“Via the scheme, we particularly want to help any businesses who may have fallen through the cracks in previous grant rounds. We’re also looking forward to supporting plans for growth, innovation and diversification via the grants available especially for those taking on retail space in commercial centres.

“We want to protect, support and enhance our towns and village centres and therefore look forward to meeting with businesses who would like help and guidance.”

Any business that would like to receive information on the support available should email MBB@maidstone.gov.uk.
