News Shop local this Christmas

Shop local this Christmas image

Really get into the Christmas spirit by visiting a Christmas market, buying local produce and helping to support a small business.

Head along to the beautiful Maidstone Museum on Saturday 4 December from 10am to 3pm for some festive cheer and a wonderful Christmas experience.

The Christmas market, like the Museum, will be free to enter so everyone is welcome to come and see the lovely gifts and goodies that will be available and to explore the galleries. Here is a small selection of what will be on offer; wall art and clocks made from vinyl records, handmade pies filled with local produce, sculptures created from scrap metal and cutlery, bird boxes and hedgehog houses from recycled wood, sugar-free cookery treats as well as original watercolour Christmas cards.

A perfect way to spend Small Business Saturday supporting local businesses. For more information on the Museum visit: https://museum.maidstone.gov.uk

Then on Saturday 11 December from 9am to 2pm come along to Lockmeadow local producers and craft market Christmas Special full of local people selling products they have created and buy someone a unique homemade gift. Held every second Saturday in the month in the market hall, at Lockmeadow. For more information on the entertainment centre and the many attractions it has to offer visit https://lockmeadowentertainment.co.uk/

Cllr Martin Round, Chair of the Economic Regeneration and Leisure Committee said:

“These two markets are a great way to get in the mood for Christmas and  support one of our local producers, you may even find a perfect handmade gift, showing someone how much you care. By shopping locally you are not only helping to celebrate the wonderful independent businesses you are also reducing your carbon footprint.”
