Maidstone Mela comes back to Mote Park in a blast of colour and music on Sunday 19 September between 12noon and 6pm.

With 11 different performances throughout the afternoon kicking off with Bloco Fogo, bringing carnival sounds of Brazil with samba beats to get everyone up and dancing.

The Mela will be featuring culturally diverse Kent based acts showcasing their unique art forms along with plenty of food stalls offering flavours from around the world as well as a prosecco bar.

Cllr Martin Round, Chair of the Economic, Regeneration and Leisure Committee:

“I love all these wonderful events which are bringing Maidstone to life, it is great to see them coming back and the Mela is yet another one not to miss. Everyone is welcome at this free event in our great Mote Park, come along with family and friends, celebrate the diversity of the borough and have some well-deserved fun.”

Performances include classic Irish dance with a modern twist, Bhangra drumming, rap and grime, Southwest Indian dance and music, traditional moves and sounds of the Malayalam culture. There are dance performances inspired by the Nepalese culture and powerful drumming and dancing from North India and Southern Africa.

As the afternoon wears on DJ Amit will be playing smash hits and to finish off a fabulous Bollywood Brass Band will rouse the crowds with unique renditions of party classics and Bollywood corkers.
