Booking is now open for the first release of walks for the Heart of Kent Walking Festival and people are invited to take part in the first event of its kind in the borough of Maidstone.

The event has been organised by Visit Maidstone – the tourism team at Maidstone Borough Council (MBC), and a collaboration of partners from organisations around the borough to bring together a great selection of walks.  This is the inaugural year of the festival which takes place from 30 September and will run until 2 October 2022.

The festival includes a wide range of walks across the borough including long distance and history walks.  The events will also give walkers the opportunity to visit a wide variety of pubs, hotels and hospitality venues on the various routes.

Booking is essential to manage the number of attendees and people are being asked to book now to avoid disappointment.

MBC Lead Member for Leisure and Arts – Councillor Claudine Russell said:

It is great news to see this inaugural event for Maidstone taking place. The walking festival is a fantastic initiative – there are 12 different walks to choose from and they are all guided so no maps required!

One of the MBC priorities is A Thriving Place, and the Heart of Kent Walking Festival reflects that in the variety of routes set out.

Claudine continued:

Maidstone really is a thriving place and this festival gives everyone taking part the opportunity to experience and enjoy some of the amazing countryside Maidstone has to offer.
