News Fun with Steampunk to PANTS at Maidstone Museum

Join in the glorious steampunk adventure at Maidstone Museum this Saturday 30 July from 10am to 3.30pm!

With free entry to lots of stalls and activities at the Muggleton Village Fair, browse the stalls to find your perfect Steampunk accessory!

For children aged 11 years and under decorate a hat at home and bring it to be judged in ‘The Fanciest Hat’ competition at 10.30am. Prizes for the most splendid Steampunk creations!

Listen to the Wizard telling stories in the historic library at 11am and 2pm and perfect your aim with Familiar Flinging at 12noon. (Some activities may incur a small charge.)

Why not take in the PANTS exhibition too and find out about the history of underwear. Why do we wear underwear? What does your underwear say about you? This fun and fascinating look at undergarments has started in the Museum and runs until December, from loincloths to corsets this exhibition will take you on a journey by the seat of your PANTS!

These sound like a lot of fun, I’m thrilled our Museum is running both of these events. The Steampunk Festival looks set to delight and enthral visitors, don’t forget to pop in if you are coming into town for the River Festival on Saturday.

PANTS sounds like a fun look at the history of underwear, a must-see! Maidstone Museum is a real joy, it is among one of the finest museums in the South East and with its 600,000 artefacts you can travel through bygone eras as well as contemporary collections.

Maidstone Museum is now in its holiday high season, so opening hours until  Saturday 27 August are: Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.30pm), Please note Wednesday 27 July closing at 3.30pm (last entry 3pm) for Staff Training.
