Lockmeadow is set to host an exciting line-up of activities and will be packed with events across the summer holidays. The line-up ranges from a Thai Festival, Caribbean music, chilled anthems DJ set to storytelling - keeping customers entertained with something for everyone.

The summer events start with the Maidstone River Festival stage being set at Lockmeadow on Saturday 30 July. With its key location to the riverside with wide-open space and parking, it is the ideal spot for spectators to enjoy the music of the day.

The new Love Food hall will host Sunday Summer Sessions from 7 – 28 August bringing world music to the afternoon alongside their tasty street food and live acts inside and outside of the complex.

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) Lead Member for Leisure and Arts – Cllr Claudine Russell said:

It is just brilliant to see so many different events being planned for Lockmeadow this summer; the complex is located in a perfect spot overlooking the River Medway and these events will bring the community of Maidstone together for food, entertainment and a great day out.  Lockmeadow offers so much to so many different people and I am delighted that there are so many things happening there now.

One of MBC’s priorities is that Maidstone is a Thriving Place and the events being planned at Lockmeadow support this.

Events Line-up:

Saturday 30 July - 12pm – 10pm - Maidstone River Festival - enjoy the stage of music and performance at Lockmeadow.

Sunday 7 August -12pm – 9pm – Thai Festival (outside) - come along to experience Thai Street food and beer, dancing, souvenirs, Thai Massage and an exciting display of Thai culture.

Sunday 14 August - 12pm – 6pm – Funky Fusion – for a taste of the Caribbean, Middle-East and North African, head to Love Food to enjoy a Caribbean steel drummer along with world music.

Sunday 21 August - 12pm – 4pm - Hip Hop Feast – featuring a Hip Hop classics DJ set to celebrate the American street food at Lockmeadow.

Saturday 28 August - 12pm – 4pm – Chilled Anthems and gin tasting – ending the summer sessions with a chilled anthems DJ set for customers to enjoy cocktails, gin, baked goods and sharing platters.

Lockmeadow is also part of the MaidStory trail of events across the town centre, focussing on literacy, storytelling and entertainment for little ones across the holidays and will be hosting free storytelling from Wednesday 10– Wednesday 31 August. As part of MaidStory, Lockmeadow will also be running an online competition for children to write a poem about their favourite food to win tickets to the ODEON Luxe Cinema and Gravity.

Maidstone Borough Council became the landlord of Lockmeadow in 2019 when it bought out the long leasehold interest of the complex.
