Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne in 1952 and is the longest serving British monarch. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977, her Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002 and her Diamond Jubilee (60 years) in 2012.
In celebration of this magnificent achievement the Mayor of Maidstone is hosting a special Afternoon Tea on Wednesday, 1 June 2022, and would like to invite 70 residents of the borough who were born in 1952 to apply for two free tickets (for them and a guest), to join them in commemorating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It will also be a magnificent way for them to celebrate their own 70th Birthday too.
Current Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Fay Gooch said:
I am delighted that we will be celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Maidstone in such a variety of ways including a traditional Afternoon Tea. Even though I won’t be Mayor as unfortunately my official year will have ended, I am so pleased that we are holding a Civic Event of this kind which will mean that 70 local people who are 70 years old this year along with their guest can celebrate too. I am sure it will be a wonderful way for them to meet and share their memories of Maidstone too.
Local residents born in 1952 who would like to apply are asked to complete the online form: Maidstone Mayor Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea
Successful applicants will be contacted by 1 May 2022. Tickets are limited, will be reserved in order of application and are subject to the main guest meeting the required criteria of being born in 1952 and also being a current resident of the borough of Maidstone, Kent.
