“Wow, I am delighted to see so much going on in an around Maidstone this Jubilee weekend. Maidstone is the place to be, come along and try out as many of these events as you can!“We have helped make the town centre look more patriotic, with Union Flag bunting and welcome lamppost banners as well as a number of cascading flower towers, hanging and barrier baskets, all colour themed red, white, blue and 'platinum' grey foliage.
“Our wonderful Council Grounds Maintenance Team have also created an ornamental carpet bed in Brenchley Gardens of a Jubilee themed Union flag with a 70 years motif.”
Saturday 28 May 3pm to 8pm – Whatman Park - Free Jubilee Proms in the Park - To kick off the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Maidstone a rousing Proms is being held at the magnificent Whatman Park Riverstage on Saturday 28 May. Saturday 28 May to Wednesday 1 June – Kent Life – Half Term fun - Join entertainers across the site in their animal themed activities! Step back in time and visit the Vintage Village, from the Victorian Petts Farmhouse, through to WW2 Lenham Cottages, or enjoy the 1950s Sandling Farmhouse. Monday 30 May to Friday 3 June 10.30am to 3.30pm – The Mall - Free craft activities - Get Jubilee Day ready by making and decorating your own crowns and flags in the craft bar, it will be located on the upper mall near Muffin Break. The fun does not stop there, on Friday 3rd June, there will be a Face painter. There’s also the chance to win an afternoon tea and BB’s Muffins in Maidstone. More info here
Monday 30 May to Wednesday 1 June 10.30am to 2.30pm – Maidstone Museum - Jubilee craft sessions for children – Head over to Maidstone Museum for three days of Platinum Jubilee themed ‘Make It’ sessions for children. Friday 3 June – Maidstone town centre – Jubilee fun! The town will be alive with entertainment as One Maidstone provide the fun! There will be a Bubblologist - Making giant bubbles, Royal Guards will be placed around the town to set the scene for the royal occasion, can you make them laugh? Dancing cleaners will mop the floor and then burst into a full dance show, dancing round their mops, join in with some of their Best of British dance moves and songs. Stilt walking trees representing the Jubilee and fun farmers will be wheeling their barrows around Maidstone town centre handing out tree sees for children to plant a tree for the Queens special jubilee celebrations. Friday 3 June and Saturday 4 June 10am to 2pm - Royal Star Arcade Maidstone town centre – Come and celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at The Royal Star Arcade, see displays of some wonderful artwork created by the children of East Farleigh Primary School. On Sat 4 June, the monthly artisan market will be running from 10am to 2pm. Alongside this, there will be free face painting from 10.30am and then live music starting at 12pm.
