The Council wants to understand people’s views so they can be taken into account as it considers the budget for the coming financial year.
Cllr John Perry, Lead Member for Corporate Services at MBC said:
“Given the impact of the difficulties with the UK economy the financial outlook for MBC is uncertain. Particularly as Central Government support, which helped to address the effects of the Pandemic and provided funding for the community to recover, has now stopped.
“We have seen renewed growth during this current financial year within our sources of income, such as parking and planning fees, which has helped the Council finances start to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, this means our financial position remains sound.
“It is likely, however, that inflation will affect the cost of services, which, coupled with constraints on the capacity of the Council to recoup these costs means that we may have to make some difficult decisions in the near future. Before we do this, we would like to hear your views.”
