Volunteers and voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations providing support or services in Maidstone are being invited to a Volunteering and Funding advice event at Trinity House on 30 November 9.30am to 3.30pm.

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is hosting the informative event in partnership with ‘Funding for All’ at Trinity House, the Council’s Community Hub. The event will explore opportunities for volunteer engagement and funding support.

It will offer fundraising training, opportunities to meet local funders, one to one funding advice, opportunities to explore volunteer engagement and the chance to meet with key Maidstone VCSEs.

People are encouraged to make use of the market-place of organisations which will be available for advice, income generation for local causes, and information on volunteering opportunities. These will include MBC Welfare team, Housing and Health, Funding for All, Ashford Volunteer Bureau, MSCS, The Princess Project, Tommy’s Rainbow Trust, Making Wishes, Heart of Kent Hospice, Maidstone YMCA, CK Insurance, Citizens Advice Bureau and SSAFA.

Cllr Lottie Parfitt-Reid, Lead Member for Communities and Public Engagement at MBC said:

“This event will be ideal for organisations  seeking to engage with volunteers and also for volunteers looking to become involved in their local community. A wealth of experience, support and advice will be on offer on the day.

“These organisations are the back bone of our communities, we recognise how valuable they are so we are trying to help where we can.

“The day will include networking in our marketplace and organisations can ask our panel their thoughts on volunteering and explore how we can strengthen our links and work together going forwards.”

Kerry at Funding for All said:

“Funding for All is really looking forward to putting on this event in partnership with MBC.

“We have planned to help organisations throughout the day with funding because we know that VCSEs need to bring in the money to enable them to make the important contribution that they make.

“Support for funding and opening up volunteering opportunities provides the encouragement and empowerment needed to make a difference. As a charity, this is what we are here for, to help all VCSEs in Kent and Medway access funding and become sustainable.

“We are grateful to MBC for their targeted support and commitment to volunteering and to all the VCSEs within the borough. Come along and explore what support is available for your organisation too.”
