Tickets are now on sale for Maidstone’s first Literary Festival brought to the town by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC).

Maidstone LitFest 2023 will run from 2-8 October in locations around the town centre and feature internationally bestselling authors such as Lisa Jewell, Dorothy Koomson and A F Steadman.

Tickets for the festival are a combination of free and paid for events, which will run across six venues in the town: The Archbishop’s Palace, Town Hall, Waterstones, Lockmeadow, All Saints Church, Kent History and Library Centre. Tickets can be booked via the Visit Maidstone website: https://www.visitmaidstone.com/whats-on/maidstone-litfest

Cllr Claudine Russell, Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts at MBC:

The Council is delighted to be offering such a varied programme for this first Literary Festival in our County Town.

There really is something for all readers. In addition the festival is launching its schools’ programme bringing exciting and inspiring children’s authors to sixteen schools in Maidstone. With visits from authors such as Jack Meggitt-Phillips and Tọlá Okogwu, children will have the chance to meet and be inspired by bestselling authors.

The innovative Literary Festival project is being delivered by Maidstone Borough Council and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

For local writers, there will be a showcase on Sunday 8 October at the Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre from 10am-4pm. Writers can book a stall to share and sell their books, give a reading to an audience, offer inspiration, or provide a free activity for children. For further information on the local writers’ showcase, email:  info@maidstonelitfest.org

There will also be a free LitFest for children during the festival to celebrate Libraries Week at the Kent History and Library Centre with story time and activities running throughout week.
