News Book now for Maidstone’s Heart of Kent Walking Festival
Booking is now open for Maidstone’s Heart of Kent Walking Festival, taking place between Friday 24 March to Sunday 2 April. The festival is run by a collaboration of organisations, led by Visit Maidstone from Maidstone Borough Council (MBC).
There are currently 12 walks taking place during the festival, with more to be announced, including a fully accessible nature scoot which aims to encourage those with mobility limitations who rely on wheeled equipment, this is being run by Wild with Wheels.
Walk lengths and grades vary to suit different abilities, allowing both experienced and new walkers to take part. All walks are run by expert guides with amazing knowledge, many sharing information on different topics such as history, flora and fauna, geology and much more.
Cllr Claudine Russell, Lead Member for Leisure and Arts at MBC said:
“We are delighted to be able to bring the Heart of Kent Walking Festival back for a second year, this time in the Spring. It’s the perfect event to celebrate this beautiful time of year as well as helping to support the local tourism industry by encouraging visitors to stay, visit local attractions, eat in our pubs and restaurants.“To choose the right walk for you, please see the walk grades and accessibility description online. The Ivy Coffee House, located on Earl Street in Maidstone Town centre is offering discount vouchers to attendees of the walking festival to relax and enjoy after their walk.

The Heart of Kent Walking Festival is a collaboration of organisations, led by Visit Maidstone from Maidstone Borough Council with partners that include Kent Community Rail Partnership, SusTrans, Medway Valley Countryside Partnership, Explore Kent, Involve Kent, Long Distance Walkers Association, Augustine Camino, History Hikers, Boots on Adventures, Wild with Wheels, Hike South East, Balfour Winery and others.
