Last few places left for free theatre and art summer workshops image

There are still a few spaces left for ‘AmpFest: Play in a Day’ free sessions, hosted by Hazlitt Theatre, in collaboration with Maidstone Borough Council (MBC).

For any 11 to 18 year olds with an interest in performing, the following two remaining sessions have some spaces available. Both workshops are being held at Maidstone’s scenic outdoor Hermitage Millennium Amphitheatre, ME15 6YF.

Monday 7 August at 12 noon - Singing and dancing to hit songs from the musical ‘Six – Divorced. Beheaded! An uplifting tale about the six wives of Henry VIII https://www.parkwoodtheatres.co.uk/hazlitt-theatre/whats-on/ampfest-six-workshop

Wednesday 9 August at 12 noon - A musical theatre workshop inspired by the hit musical ‘Heathers’. https://www.parkwoodtheatres.co.uk/hazlitt-theatre/whats-on/ampfest-heathers-workshop

Cllr Claudine Russell, Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“Come along for these two family-friendly fun sessions. Young people will have the opportunity to work alongside theatre

professionals to explore these two exciting new musicals!"

In addition, there are still some places left for the ‘Art in the Park’ free art workshops, set in the beautiful surroundings of Brenchley Gardens in the heart of Maidstone. There is a maximum of 10 people per session.

Friday 18 August 1-3pm - for ages 12 - 16 years old. A teens workshop to learn print-making techniques and create a piece of colourful artwork inspired by nature.

Friday 25 August 10am-12 noon and 1-3pm - for those aged 16 years and over. The acrylics workshops will explore bold and vibrant colours in these informal sessions, as you learn how to work with acrylics and create a stunning artwork to take home.

Friday 1 September 10am–12 noon and 1-3pm – for those aged 16 years and over. In these bottle-painting workshops have fun learning a variety of techniques to paint a glass bottle with your own unique designs in this relaxed session.

“These workshops are a great way to learn a new skill and take home a piece of art you have created and they are all free. It might even be the start of new hobby or career for you. There is no experience necessary and expert tuition and all materials are provided.”
