The coveted Green Flag is the award that is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces. MBC’s Clare Park, Cobtree Manor Park (managed by the Cobtree Trust), Mote Park and Whatman (Millennium River) Park have officially been recognised as some of the country’s best.
MBC Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts – Cllr Claudine Russell said:
It is great news that four of Maidstone’s parks have once again been awarded the prestigious Green Flag. The news that our parks have been recognised in this way is testament to dedication of the MBC Parks Team and all of our volunteers who work hard to make these green spaces a great place that everyone can enjoy.
Commenting on the news that the four MBC parks have met the Green Flag Award standard, Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said:
I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Maidstone Borough Council in achieving a Green Flag Award.
Maidstone’s parks are vital green spaces for the community in bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.
The Green Flag Award Scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful, Keep Wales Tidy and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
