The Summer Make It! Craft sessions take place three times a day between 10am and 2.30pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday right through until 24 August. Some sessions will be linked to the fascinating new NHS 75th anniversary exhibition as well as other collections and galleries.
The fun sessions are ideal for ages 4 to 11 years and an adult must stay with children. Activities take 30-50 mins to complete and booking is recommended, sessions are £3.50 per child per session.
The Museum is also trialling family craft sessions on five Friday’s throughout the holidays for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. With two sessions a day, 10am and 1pm between Fri 28 Jul to Fri 25 Aug. The activities will be linked to the natural history and animal collections in a more relaxed environment with guided and open ended craft opportunities. These sessions will have fewer spaces than the usual sessions and aim to be quieter. Sessions are £3.50 per child. For those intrepid explorers a themed trail will also take children around the museum with collectable badges as prizes. Each trail is £2 per child and includes a pen.
Cllr Claudine Russell, Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts said:
"Maidstone Museum is such a wonderful relaxing and interesting space with so much to see for the whole family, it’s a perfect day out. The artefacts are amazing and really bring history to life. It is free to enter and is a lovely place for a day out with the courtyard available if you want to bring a picnic or an inside space with games if the weather is bad. Why not plan in a visit now, taking in the craft sessions and trail.”
