Time is running out to apply for the latest round of Creative Communities Grants says Maidstone Borough Council (MBC). The third round of funding is open until 30 June for applications from art and creative groups in Maidstone.

MBC is inviting groups and individuals in the borough to apply for between £500 up to £2,000 through the Creative Communities Grants which have been introduced to help support events and activities encouraging arts engagement and community cohesion in Maidstone town centre.

MBC Lead Member for Leisure and Arts, Cllr Claudine Russell said:

“The Creative Communities Grants are a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to deliver arts projects in Maidstone town centre to apply for.

“This is the third round of grant funding and we have seen some great projects apply previously, and we are delighted once again to be able to offer another opportunity for more people to apply for the grants.”

The MBC Creative Communities Grants are funded by the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and in this latest round the Council has been awarded £13,000 to give away subject to a successful application bid.

Claudine continued:

“Time is running out for this latest application round for these grants, and I would encourage anyone who is eligible to apply now. We have already seen a wide variety of projects funded by the previous grants which have included dance, music, drama and visual arts delivered in Maidstone, and it would be great to see even more benefit from the money available so please apply now.”

This third round of MBC Creative Communities Grants will be awarded on Monday 14 August 2023 when monies will be allocated according to the appropriateness of the application.

Creative Communities Grant application criteria:

Who can apply: Individual artists and creatives, community groups and cultural organisations located in the borough of Maidstone.

There are four key priorities for the Creative Communities Grants:

  • Increasing pride in our borough and its communities
  • Increasing participation/engagement in arts and cultural activities; working with diverse audiences
  • Supporting new and existing creative talent in the borough
  • Promoting the benefits of arts and culture to our society, economy, health and wellbeing

The deadline for this round of funding closes 30 June 2023.

  • Total fund available: £30,000 per annum
  • Grant range available to apply for: £500 - £2,000
