Communities in Maidstone are being encouraged to have their say on a Borough-wide Community Governance Review (CGR) which will look at any alterations needed to Parish Council boundaries.

An initial consultation asking for boundary issues to be identified and proposals to be put forward ended in January 2023.  This next consultation is an opportunity for the community to comment on specific proposals and have their say on those boundary changes that impact their area.  Parish areas impacted are:

*        Barming

*        Boughton Monchelsea/Langley

*        Boxley

*        Chart Sutton

*        Coxheath / East Farleigh

*        Downswood

*        Loose

*        Otham

*        Thurnham

*        Tovil

Cllr Paul Cooper, Deputy Leader of Maidstone Borough Council said:

“As part of this review we are required to make sure that community governance within the areas under review will reflect the identities and interests of the community in that area and be effective and convenient.”

“We must take into account the impact of community governance arrangements on community cohesion and the size, population and boundaries of a local community or Parish Council.”

A consultation is now open and will run until Sunday 6 August and should take between 4-8 minutes to complete. Please visit Let’s Talk Maidstone to have your say: https://letstalkmaidstone.uk.engagementhq.com/community-governance-review
