The Maidstone Business Terrace welcomed Kent-based entrepreneurs this week for a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event where they bid for funding from Business Angels.

The Roadshow provided a platform for Startups to showcase their ideas, network with local investors and entrepreneurs across Maidstone and wider Kent and pitch for Business Angels mentoring and Investment funding.

The Startup Roadshow competition saw three businesses go head-to-head in a pitching competition to a panel of judges. Maidstone-based Nocturnal Pictures; an independent film production company were voted the winners.

The Business Terrace is Maidstone Borough Council’s growth accelerator, providing high-quality flexible workspace to help businesses start, grow and thrive.

Cllr Paul Cooper, Cabinet Member for Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development at MBC said:

“I am really thrilled that our very own Business Terrace was selected to host this event. The event was sold out and we’re pleased to say Maidstone based Nocturnal Pictures were judged the best pitch.  It was fantastic that The Business Terrace was chosen to showcase the best of Kent’s Entrepreneurs.

“The Terrace has supported more than 1,000 businesses since opening and is continuing to guide businesses in the borough through this challenging commercial environment. This event highlights what a fantastic place our borough is for businesses to start, grow and thrive.”

South East Angels, was founded in 2020, backed by local entrepreneurs and investors, with the objective of increasing investment activity in the local area.

Kristina Pereckaite, Managing Director of South East Angels said:

“As the Business Capital of Kent we were very keen to host an event in Maidstone and The Business Terrace was the perfect location. Having supported so many entrepreneurs and founders since it opened, we knew The Terrace would provide the right setting to showcase ideas and encourage collaboration. I’d urge anyone looking to start a business in Maidstone to visit The Terrace and benefit from the network of support available.”
