Maidstone Market and Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre are launching their first Vintage and Retro Fair this Sunday 2 July in the newly named Coronation Square.

The fair, arranged by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC), will open 10am until 4pm and will feature three main zones.

A vintage clothes sale in the market hall organised by Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair, a VW/Retro car zone outside will host Airstyle VW Magazine, VW Works will be showcasing some great VW vintages and car stalls as well as live music. A local makers market will also be held in the main Coronation Square organised by Sharlie Dunstan from City Core Creative Markets. Sharlie has previously created markets at Dreamland Margate and Canterbury Whitefriars for special events.

Cllr Claudine Russell, Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts at Maidstone Borough Council said:

“The aim of this great Vintage and Retro Fair is to bring together audiences with a love of vintage, sustainable shopping, retro and vintage cars. Visitors can enjoy live music and browse the food and drink stalls inside and outside of the entertainment centre.”

Lou Lou Glover, Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair Organiser, said:

“We are delighted to be part of the Lockmeadow Vintage celebrations on Sunday. Lou Lou’s Vintage fair showcases a variety of the UK’s best vintage traders selling clothing, accessories, home and collectables from the 1940s right through to the 90s.”

“With sustainability at the forefront of many people’s minds right now, shopping vintage has never been so popular. It’s a great way of not only sourcing unique outfits, but also helping the environment at the same time and supporting many independent businesses. We know that the area has a great vintage scene and we can’t wait to meet a whole new host of vintage lovers.”

Stall holders will also include:

Romey Marsh vinyl records, retro sweets, and Maybel’s Vintage ice cream van.

Live music will be playing throughout the day with Lew Lewis and his all StarTrio and King Size Slim. Entry to the event is free.
