Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) works with Coolings Garden Centre in Bearsted to run the competition and awards ceremony. The competition is free to enter with categories ranging from individual pots to entire gardens. Category winners are awarded prizes of up to £25 of Coolings vouchers.
Entries open on Saturday 1 April and close Friday 30 June. Judges will start inspecting all gardens, pots or allotments during July giving anyone wishing to enter plenty of time to create their stunning displays.
William Cornall, Director of Regeneration and Place at MBC said:
“This wonderful competition helps encourage residents, businesses, community groups and schools to bring colour and vibrancy to their gardens and pots. We had so many striking entries last year, which all help to brighten up the borough and increase biodiversity, it would be wonderful if we could encourage even more in 2023.”
Maidstone Borough In Bloom categories for 2023:
William continues:
“A brand new category for this year is Best School Garden so we really hope to have lots of schools taking part too. Flowers really help to increase biodiversity and wildlife as well as helping to improve our wellbeing and make us all feel better. So why not enter your garden this year and help brighten up the Borough.”
An awards ceremony for all entrants will take place on Wednesday 13 September at Coolings The Gardener’s Garden Centre in Knockholt, Sevenoaks.
