In partnership with The Mall Maidstone, MBC is running a Christmas Donation Hub and will be collecting donated festive gifts, decorations, toys and food items for those who may not otherwise be able to afford to celebrate this year.
The hub is supporting local charities who will distribute the donated items to those people who need them most.
Cabinet Member for Homes and Communities, Cllr Lottie Parfitt Reid said:
With the rising cost of living many more people are finding it difficult to pay their utility bills, cover the cost of their normal food shopping and don’t have any money left over to spend on festive extras. To help, the Council and The Mall are asking everyone who can, to help spread some joy this year and donate to the Maidstone Christmas Family Appeal. If you can help can I ask you to please donate what you can to the Maidstone Christmas Donation Hub. On behalf of the Council I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is able to support the hub in helping to spread some festive cheer this year.
The Christmas Donation Hub will be located on the upper level in The Mall, next to the children’s soft play area, and will be open to receive donations of new children’s toys (we’re sorry but we are not able to take used or send hand items), festive gifts, Xmas decorations and non-perishable food items.
The charities that the project is supporting include:
The hub, (staffed by volunteers), will run from Monday 13 November to Saturday 16 December in The Mall and will also be open for anyone who would like to pop in for a warm welcome and a hot drink during opening hours.
