Working in partnership with The Mall, MBC is hosting a Christmas Donation Hub which is open until Saturday 16 December and is taking in festive gifts, toys, toiletries, household products, food items and more to be shared with local charities who will distribute them to those who may be struggling to afford to celebrate this year.
MBC Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts, Cllr Claudine Russell said:
The team at the Donation Hub have been absolutely amazed at the generosity of the people of Maidstone.They have heard some very humbling stories from some who have virtually nothing themselves but want to give what they can to help other people.
Thank you to you all for your incredible kindness, we really appreciate everything that you are doing to help us to support others.
Located on the upper level of The Mall the Maidstone Christmas Donation Hub is being manned by volunteers including staff from MBC, The Mall, One Maidstone, Golding Homes and MHA Accounting. The team is gratefully accepting donations Monday – Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
One volunteer - Stuart Chipperfield, Tax Director at MHA Accountants added:
We are absolutely delighted to be here volunteering at the Hub here for Christmas and helping the various charities it is supporting. This is a fantastic project which has been organised by the Council and The Mall.My experience here as a volunteer is seeing people coming in to give donations and you realise how generous people really are.
Another volunteer - One Maidstone Chief Executive, Michelle Woodland commented:
I have been so humbled at the generosity of the people giving others gifts to make a difference to their Christmas. Well done to Maidstone Borough Council and The Mall for creating this project.

Volunteering at the Hub was great fun, it's really wonderful to be able to support this initiative. The donations received by our charity will be used to put smiles on the faces of children at our upcoming Christmas show.
