Cllr Clive English, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services at MBC said:
“Every household this year will see a change to their collection date over the Christmas period so we are asking for people to make a note of the new collection day please.“We know there is always more waste at this time of year so it is always a good time to remind people to recycle as much as possible. We also have a promotion on our food caddy at the moment where you can purchase a 23 litre Food Bin, 5 litre kitchen caddy and a roll of compostable food bags for only £10. Each order will also be put into a prize draw, where you could win a £50 voucher.”
Keep up to date with any changes by visiting the MBC website.
MBC is again supporting the Heart of Kent Hospice charity real Christmas tree collection this year. Volunteers are collecting real trees from postcode areas in exchange for donations to the Heart of Kent Hospice.
Last Christmas the hospice recycled more than 600 trees and raised over £9,000 for Heart of Kent Hospice.
Collections will take place between Friday 3 January 2025 and Sunday 5 January 2025 from the following postcodes:
ME5 9, ME6 5, ME14, ME15, ME16, ME17 3, ME17 4, ME18, ME19, ME20, TN12 5, TN15 7, TN15 8, TN15 9, Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Hadlow, Burham, Wouldham.
Make a booking before Tuesday 31 December 2024 using the Heart of Kent website.
Garden waste collections are suspended for two weeks over the festive period while the frontline services manage excess domestic and recycling waste.
Once the service resumes real Christmas trees can be recycled and for anyone who subscribes to the Garden waste collection, place any real trees next to the garden bin and it will be collected with the normal collection. Please remember to remove all tinsel, decorations and any pots or stands.
