Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is delighted to once again host the Medieval Fayre this Easter.

The free-family-fun day will be held in the town centre’s beautiful Brenchley Gardens and take place on Saturday 6 April from 11am – 4pm.

The MBC Medieval Fayre will see a party of re-enactors bringing traditional crafts and skills to life along with talks and demonstrations including spinning, woodworking and calligraphy, as well as a barber surgeon and a blacksmith working at his forge.

Visitors can find out about medieval crime and punishment or learn more on childhood toys and games, then meet the beautiful owls and birds of prey from Kent Owl Academy, before undertaking some Knight and Princess training!

MBC Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Arts, Cllr Claudine Russell said:

The Medieval Fayre is a fabulous day out for all the family with so much for people of all ages to see and do.

One of the priorities of the Council is a Thriving Place and it is great for us to be able to bring so many different events to the town centre this year for everyone to enjoy free of charge.

The Medieval Fayre is one of the first of many free events being held by MBC in 2024. The Council is planning a huge variety of entertainment including the Maidstone Summer Series when the town centre will see a host of performers, entertainers and musicians take to the streets. Starting on Saturday 20 July, The Maidstone Summer Series will run for six weeks and provide free entertainment every Saturday until 24 August between 10am and 2pm.

These will coincide with another series of fabulous big band and brass bandstand concerts in Brenchley Garden which will take place every Sunday from 21 July – 1 September from 3pm to 5pm. The concerts are funded by the Council and are completely free to attend. Deckchairs will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Find out more about all there is to see and do in the County Town by going to the Visit Maidstone website:  www.visitmaidstone.com

The Medieval Fayre is FREE to enter and, with something for all the family, it makes a great day out.
