The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Gordon Newton invited the Maidstone United first team to a Civic Reception at the Town Hall on Thursday 15 February, following their amazing success in getting to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Mayor said:

“I am so impressed with how well the team have played and just wanted to show my appreciation to them in some way. I invited them to join me and fellow councillors to help celebrate their tremendous success in getting to the fifth round of the FA Cup.”

Maidstone United Manager George Elokobi said:

“Thank you to The Mayor for inviting us here today.

“I am unbelievably proud of my players and management team – they thoroughly deserve this recognition. This squad of players continues to make history and they deserve all the attention and appreciation that’s come their way.

“We’ve been backed every step of the way by our wonderful supporters, and it’s been great to have the backing of the Maidstone community who we are very proud to be representing at Coventry a week Monday.”

The Mayor continues:

“The Stones are all a real credit to Maidstone and I really wish them every success in the next round against Coventry. I enjoyed watching them play against Ipswich and felt so proud to see them win.”
