Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is calling on businesses across the borough to share any concerns and ideas they have related to safety and security as part of a consultation running until 25 August.

The survey is asking businesses about their experiences of crime focussed on four key priorities:

  • Feelings of safety in the area of the business
  • Experience of reporting crimes in relation their business
  • Crime prevention measures
  • How to get involved

Cllr Naghi, Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion at MBC said:

“We understand that business crime impacts your livelihood directly and indirectly. By participating in this survey, you can help us better understand your concerns and ideas related to safety and security. As a business owner or professional in Maidstone, your insights are crucial in shaping the safety of our community.”
“Community safety in Maidstone is a shared responsibility across many organisations. The Community Safety Partnership ‘Safer Maidstone’ is dedicated to implementing and delivering initiatives that help keep Maidstone a safe place to live, work, learn, and visit. The results of this survey will help shape the work of the group in the future.”

In May 2025, the Safer Maidstone Partnership will decide the next 12 months of partnership activities to help reduce crime. These will come from; responses to this survey, understanding any crime concerns, a review of crime and community safety data to help make sure it continues to focus on crimes with the highest risk of harm.
