The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Everyday Encounters’ and artworks can be in any medium including paints, pencils, sculpture, textiles, etc, with the single exception of photography, as there are already other opportunities for that medium.
Cllr Stephen Thompson, MBC Cabinet Member for Healthier Stronger Communities in Maidstone said:
“The competition is open to all and prizes will be awarded in two categories, under 18s and over 18s. People are invited to create original artworks that celebrate our stunning park. Entries can be made until the competition closes on 27 September.“This competition celebrates the beauty of Mote Park and the many different areas within it. The Council welcomes as many different entries as possible this year and is encouraging everyone of all abilities to have a go.”
Once the competition has closed a number of entries will be shortlisted to feature in a special exhibition which will be held in the Mote Park Learning Space from 28 October to 8 November 2024.
There will be a special preview event for those selected for exhibition on Saturday 26 October when the overall winners of the competition will also be announced. The exhibition will then open to the public and will be free to visit. Visitors will be invited to vote for their own favourite artworks and the winner of this public vote will also receive a small prize.
The competition is open for entries until 27 September 2024 and full details of how to enter can be found at https://arts.maidstone.gov.uk/mote-park-art
