Anyone eligible to vote who won’t be able to do so in person can do so by applying for a postal vote. People will need to be registered and apply by 5pm on 19 June 2024. Apply for a postal vote online by going to the government website: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
Everyone registering to vote via the post will be sent a postal vote ballot pack before the day of the election. The application process has changed, and people can now apply online.
Alternatively, those who cannot vote in person could setup a proxy vote, (when they allow someone they trust to do so on their behalf). This can also now be completed online via: https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.
Angela Woodhouse, Returning Officer for Maidstone Borough Council said: “As there is a short time until polling day, we are asking anyone who needs to register or wants to apply to do so as soon as possible. This will help make sure we can process them in good time so that everyone has the opportunity to vote.”
