Marking its 40th year with a chance to recognise, celebrate and thank the many incredible volunteers for all they contribute to local communities, the voluntary sector, and society as a whole.
Volunteers play an important role and are at the heart of communities across Maidstone. Volunteering can be rewarding in many different ways, giving people a sense of wellbeing and providing great experiences for the future. It is a way of giving something to the community people live in.
MBC would like to take the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who give their time to help out across the borough. From volunteers in parks and open spaces, walk leaders, Maidstone Museum, hundreds of litter pickers who help keep many areas free from rubbish, to people who help out across the three food larders which have been set up to help address food poverty and support local residents. Every one of the volunteers make an enormous difference.
MBC has volunteers at Whatman Park, Mote Park, SouthPark, the town centre, Bell Lane Nature Reserve and Local Nature Reserves. There are no particular skills required, just a willingness to embrace tasks and be open to coaching and mentoring. Anyone interested should email: parksandopenspaces@maidstone.gov.uk
