Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) has announced the results of the 2024 Borough Council Elections after residents took to the polls across the borough yesterday – Thursday 2 May.

Maidstone voters turned out at the polls to have their say on the 49 available election seats at the local elections.

The MBC results were announced at the Detling Show Ground, Maidstone, where the following candidates were duly elected to represent the following wards:

  • Allington & Bridge (2 seats): Stuart Jeffery, Green Party – 914 and Rachel Rodwell, Green Party 822 votes
  • Barming Heath & Teston (2 seats): Fay Gooch, Independent – 765 votes and Allison Sweetman, Green Party – 712 votes
  • Bearsted & Downswood (3 seats): Val Springett, Conservative Party – 1,200 votes, Dennis Spooner, Conservative Party – 1,021 votes and Ciaran Oliver, Green Party – 1,013 votes
  • Boughton Monchelsea & Chart Sutton(1 seat): Anne Dawes, Independent – 599 votes
  • Boxley Downs (2 seats): Vanessa Jones, Independent Party, 1,026 votes and Stephen Thompson, Green Party – 810 votes
  • Coxheath & Farleigh (2 seats): Claire Kehily, Green Party -781 votes and Lottie Parfitt-Reid, Conservative Party – 666 votes
  • Fant & Oakwood (3 seats): Paul Harper, Fant & Oakwood Independent – 1,285 votes, Patrick Coates, Fant & Oakwood Independent Party, 1,149 votes and Kimberley Milham, Green Party - 909 votes
  • Grove Green & Vinters Park (3 seats): Rob Field, Liberal Democrat – 939 votes, Mark Naghi, Liberal Democrats – 897 votes and Ronald Burke, Conservative Party – 834 votes
  • Harrietsham, Lenham & North Downs (3 seats): Janetta Sams, -Independent 1,515 votes, Tom Sams, Independent -1,455 votes and Kathryn Cox - 923 votes
  • Headcorn & Sutton Valence (2 seats): Martin Round, Conservative Party – 975 votes and Ziggy Trzebinksi, Conservative Party – 903 votes
  • High Street (3 seats): Clive English, Liberal Democratic Party – 742 votes, Dinesh Khadka, Liberal Democratic Party – 654 votes and Donna Greenan, Green Party- 514 votes
  • Leeds & Langley (2 seats):  Gill Fort, Conservative Party – 600 votes and Gary Cooke, Conservative Party – 559 votes
  • Loose & Linton (2 seats): Brian Clark, Liberal Democrats – 1,307 votes and Simon Wales, Liberal Democrats – 931 votes
  • Marden & Yalding (3 seats): Claudine Russell, Conservative Party – 1,123 votes, Michael Summersgill, Green Party – 1,120 votes and Grace Couch, Green Party – 1,089 votes
  • Palace Wood (2 seats): Stan Forecast, Conservative Party - 1,066 votes Tom Cannon, Conservative Party - 816 votes
  • Parkwood & Mangravet (2 seats): Hilary Jenkins-Baldock, Labour Party – 512 votes and Daniel Wilkinson, Labour Party – 492 votes
  • Penenden Heath (3 seats): Tony Harwood, Liberal Democrats Party, - 1,155 votes, Richard Conyard, Liberal Democrat Party – 1,086 votes, and David Naghi, Liberal Democrats Party – 1,034 votes
  • Ringlestone (1 seat): Michael Thompson, Liberal Democrat Party - 325 votes
  • Senacre (1 seat): Malcolm McKay, Labour Party - 257 votes
  • Shepway (3 seats): Joanna Wilkinson, Labour Party – 747 votes, Maureen Cleator, Labour Party – 728 votes and Sarah Barwick, Labour Party – 725 votes
  • Staplehurst (2 seats): Paddy Riordan, Conservative Party – 967 votes and John Perry, Conservative Party – 764 votes
  • Tovil (2 seats): Paul Wilby, Liberal Democrat Party – 393 votes and Joe Higson – Liberal Democrat Party – 377 votes

There are 49 MBC Councillors in total which are now as follows:

Conservative – 13
Liberal Democrats -12
Green – 10
Labour – 6
Independent - 6
Fant & Oakwood Independents - 2
