As part of this, the MBC Economic Development team will host a breakfast networking event with One Maidstone (BID) on Thursday 5 December between 8-10am. The free to attend event includes local guest speakers encouraging all of us to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in Maidstone. Tickets for the networker can be booked online at: Small Business Saturday - MBC Christmas Networker
The breakfast networker reflects the work of the Business Terrace, which is Maidstone Borough Council’s Growth Accelerator, providing high-quality flexible workspace and brings together like-minded individuals who influence, inspire and energise one another. It provides a great choice of workspaces for ambitious businesses in Maidstone. With all of the facilities needed to thrive, free ongoing support from business advisors, and affordable pricing to help businesses grow, it continues to be popular with local enterprises.
MBC Cabinet Member for Healthier Stronger Communities, Cllr Stephen Thompson said:
The Council is delighted to recognise Small Business Saturday which is very much in line with the work of the Business Terrace, as the majority of local enterprises typically have up to ten employees.Working with the team from One Maidstone through the breakfast networking event on Thursday is a perfect example of how we support local organisations and I look forward to seeing as many people as possible there to share perspectives on doing business in Maidstone.
Small Business Saturday UK is a campaign to celebrate and encourage support for small businesses across the UK.
Michelle Woodland, Chief Executive at One Maidstone added:
The Business Terrace was created by MBC in 2015 to help facilitate start-up organisations and continues to support and help those businesses grow. It has superb facilities and experts on hand providing help and opportunities for so many small businesses to start, grow and thrive.
Small Business Saturday is an annual campaign that takes place on first Saturday of December – this year it takes place on 7 December. It’s a grassroots, not-for-profit campaign encouraging people up and down the country to support small businesses on the day, and beyond.
