The exhibition displayed a selection of shortlisted entries from a recent Mote Park Art Competition, which was run by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC). It invited people to enter original artworks that reflected ‘Everyday Encounters’ in the stunning park.
Over 630 votes were cast during the two weeks of the exhibition and the results were very close, the winner Catherine received a £50 gift voucher for art supplies, courtesy of the competition’s main sponsor ‘Marathon Wealth Management’.
During the competition twenty-seven artworks were shortlisted from more than 50 entries received which were displayed between 28 October to 8 November.
Cllr Stephen Thompson, MBC Cabinet Member for Healthier Stronger Communities in Maidstone said:
“Thank you to everyone who took part in the Mote Park Art Competition this year, it will return in 2025 and will be launched in April, when the theme for the year will also be announced.“Everyone is encouraged to take part, with artists free to work in any medium including paints, textiles, glass and ceramics, but no photography. There will be prizes for under 18s and over 18s, as well as another ‘visitors’ vote’. The competition took place for the first time in 2023 and we have received entries from school-children, local arts groups, individuals, amateurs, and professionals.”
