It’s time to bid farewell to the ‘Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent’ free art trail that has brought life and colour to Maidstone this summer.

Brought to the County Town by Heart of Kent Hospice and supported by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) as Presenting Partner, the Farewell Weekend between 13-15 September will see over 100 Shaun the Sheep sculptures go on display for one final time at the MBC Maidstone Market Hall, Lockmeadow.

The Council has been so impressed by the scale of the trail and dazzled by the fabulous designs which have encouraged huge participation from residents and local businesses in the town with many visitors making their way to Maidstone specifically to discover the Shauns.

Commenting on the heartwarming spectacle, Cllr David Naghi, MBC Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Safety, said:

The Shaun the Sheep trail has been a wonderful addition to the town centre this summer and it’s been so encouraging to see the thousands of people taking selfies, scanning codes and discovering places in Maidstone that they may never have come across before.

The Council would like to thank all the volunteers that patrolled the town to help keep the sculptures vibrant and cared for. I hope that everyone takes the chance to see Shaun and his flock one last time at the Farewell Weekend.

As well as being the final opportunity to see all the impressive sculpture designs in one place, this event is also a chance to buy trail merchandise, take selfies, meet some of the artists and open missing app codes from sculptures not already collected.

Booking is now open and tickets can be purchased at the Shaun in the Heart of Kent website: https://shaunheartofkent.co.uk/events/farewell-weekend/

Anyone interested in giving one of the beautiful Shaun sculptures a ‘forever home’ can register to attend the charity auction in aid of Heart of Kent Hospice which will take place on Thursday 26 September 2024.  The sculptures will be going under the hammer at the Clive Emson Conference centre which will see the sculptures auctioned by Auction Partners Clive Emson.
