As polling cards have started arriving through residents’ doors, Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is reminding everyone to check that they are ready to vote in the upcoming Kent County Council (KCC) election.

Polling day is on Thursday 1 May 2025 and all 72 electoral divisions across the county will be up for contest. KCC elections are held every four years, and there are eight electoral divisions in Maidstone:

Maidstone Central
Maidstone North East
Maidstone Rural East
Maidstone Rural North
Maidstone Rural South

Details of your electoral division and polling station can be found on your polling card, which can be brought on the day for a faster check-in process.

Maidstone has seven single-member divisions, and Maidstone Central, which will return two members. The results will be announced on Friday 2 May by Kent County Council.

Angela Woodhouse, Deputy Returning Officer, said:

I would urge residents in Maidstone to check that they are registered and to make their preparations in good time to ensure that they can cast their vote in this KCC election.

The deadline to register to vote is Friday 11 April and only takes around five minutes: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The postal vote is another option for voters if they cannot get to the polling station, for whatever reason. Applications can be made online, and the deadline is 5pm on Monday 14 April: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.  Please note you must be registered to vote to apply for a postal vote.

Another option, if you cannot vote in person, is for someone else to vote for you. Applications for a new proxy vote close at 5pm on Wednesday 23 April and can also be made online: www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote. Please not you must be registered to vote to apply for a proxy vote.
